I cannot even begin to express how sad I am that this book didn’t work for me. Both the premise and the opening lines held such creepy promise, but it didn’t take long before I was completely bored. Perhaps my expectations were too high.

It is difficult, with so many compelling stories out there beckoning me, to see something through when it’s failed to captivate me. So, with sadness, I have set Our Last Echoes aside for good.

It seems that Kate Alice Marshall comes up with some wholly intriguing premises and I suppose I’m simply not the right reader for her books. I expected this to maintain the creepy tone it started out with, but it quickly felt more like teenage drama/angst, which is absolutely fine, if that had been the reason I had been looking forward to this one. But I just wanted to be scared and I don’t seem to have the patience to see if the tone will get back to what I first found appealing.
