I love reading debut YA novels. Ophelia After All is a coming of age contemporary LGBT+ YA book. It's also a retelling, as if it didn't tick enough of my boxes. It's about a teenage girl named Ophelia navigating the end of high school, friendship drama and being LGBT+. Ophelia begins to doubt her self-worth and her image when she starts crushing on a girl. To make matters worse school is coming to an end, as is her friend group. While I liked her friends, I could have done without all the high school drama in this book. They added more representation to the overall story, my favorite was Agatha. However I hated her friend Lindsay. Ophelia makes a lot of mistakes, but that's part of figuring out who you are and accepting yourself. I also loved all the bi rep, pan rep, and asexual rep!
I think this book will help a lot of LGBT+ teens accept themselves.
