Thank you to Bookish First and Grand Canyon Press for the arc in exchange for my honest opinion. Gene is a character I'm sure many of us can relate too. He is trying to seek approval from his father, but also have his own identity.

The story is set in the 70s as it seems things were much simpler in those times (ya know before the world of technology and social media). I wasn't expecting the book to be as insightful as it was, and found myself underlying a lot of passages and writing notes in the margin.

It truly is a story on how one "love" can change the entire course of your life and the path you are on. What I loved was how this story proves that not everything is as black and white as some people see the world as. Patty teaches Jean that there is a place in between. What I really loved, even though there is a love story in here, its not a mushy in your face, love, but more of a realistic approach.

A beautifully written book that I encourage everyone to put on their TBR list for 2021
