The first thing that drew me to this book was that it talked about and took place in Italy, my Grandfather was also in Italy during world war two but that would have been around the time Elsa and Paul moved their story to America lol nonetheless still interesting as I haven't read many world war two books set in Italy.
The fact that this book is firmly based in truth makes it the more amazing! Honestly this book was slower or repetitive at times but it's still such an amazing story and I think It may help to remind you its a story being told after the fact/retold. The way this book is written and the way the story is told is very interesting and appealing and covers a lot of time and information about Italy and what it was like in Naples l leading up to world war 2.
