The story starts with an incredible opening that‒on the first glance‒doesn’t seem to have much to do with the rest of the First Look. It still caught my attention. The further First Look portrays a heartwarming Italian flair on the one side, but also gives a first impression of the suffering and all the restrictions during World War II on the other side.
I would love to read the book. I like drama in a wider historical context, and being a European immigrant to the US, I am very interested in the life of people struggling to find a better (and in this case: safer) life.
