Good mystery debut
The author, Joseph Schneider, has done well with his first published work. The reader feels part of the Los Angeles setting from the very first page. The references to the city culture, landmarks and daily grind of life in L.A. throughout the book continue to generate the feeling for the storyline.
The concept for the newly formed Hollywood Homicide Division and the Detective pairings make for interesting personality clashes and allow for good dialogue, some humorous and some serious. By bringing other cases, some cold, some hot into the storyline, the reader feels in touch with the real life daily drama of a homicide detective. All in all an enjoyable read and it will be interesting to see what the author follows it with.
Disclosure - I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
