The first half of the book was great. I really enjoyed it. We jump right into the action with the discovery of a dead body. The second half slowed down a bit and I found myself bored at times.
At the half way point, I made the following notes to myself. I don't like Aleena's character. She is annoying, negative and quick to take offense. Jarsdel has to work too hard for the relationship and I find the relationship itself unbelievable.
The murder mystery was interesting. I liked the quirky cast of characters Jarsdel meets during his investigation. I think the author will get better with more experience. A good first book.
