This sounds absolutely captivating! I can't wait to learn why Det Jarsdel left academia? What did he do there? Why is his background helpful to this case? Why are he & Det Morales at odds? Is it the fact that Jarsdel is more educated than Morales? What are their backgrounds? I want to know who was murdered: male or female? What is his/her backstory? How does LA play into this murder? Would it have been different if it hadn't occurred in LA?
