I had never read either of Ms Setterfield's other two books but now that I've read Once Upon a River, I will definitely investigate Bellman & Black and The Thirteenth Tale. If both are as compelling as this was, I will be hooked completely to look for her future work. Aside from the cover, which drew me in immediately, I found it fascinating that the author gave the three missing girls all names starting with "A" - intentional? Each chapter's title gives the reader a clue as to what will happen. It was interesting to learn that two main characters were bastards while a lot of the characters' names refer to water or items used on it. I loved Quietly's appearances each time. Read it - you, too, will drawn into the mystery!
