The first part of the book definitely kept me interested. Who were these people saved from the river? Was the girl really dead and now alive? Learning about the lives of the people who drank at the Swan and other neighbors was interesting and I enjoyed it.
Then it seemed to get draggy with writing that was fine, but wasn't needed in the story as far as I could see. Many, many pages were read, then skimmed to get through them to the story line again.
Then it seemed to get complicated with more people involved than I needed, but then it all came together at the end in a way that worked, but it sure took a long time to get there.
3 stars as it mostly kept my attention and I wanted to know how it turned out, but it could have been done in far fewer pages.
