At first I wasn't sure what to make of the folk-style descriptive writing. But soon enough I was just as intrigued as the rest of the townspeople by this miracle girl saved from drowning. Until the very end I could not guess who she belonged to or what her story would be. I enjoyed each character's personal story and journey in the book as well as how the author connected everyone. At first you think you will be confused by all the characters thrown at you right off the bat, but once all the introductions are made it's easy to keep track of who's who. For some reason I was left a little wistful at the end of the tale but maybe that's a sign I was so enjoying living in the story I wasn't ready to leave!
