This is the first book I've read by Diane Setterfield and I was quite impressed.
The world she built in this book was fantastic. So descriptive when introducing the characters and their families and homes.
The plot had so much mystery and intrigue. It was hard not to fall in love with the little girl who turned up at the Swan. Each character had their own story to tell and when it was finally told, you're thinking "Ah, now I get it." I was left guessing at the origin of the little girl and everyone's part in the story until nearly the end of the book.
I absolutely loved this book. It had some fantasy and superstition mixed in with some mystery and a crime that needed solving. I'm looking forward to reading past and future books by this author. P
