I loved everything about this story/audio book. The narration was top notch. The accents and description of the Thames in a not too-closely marked time frame brought me along for the ride. The story deftly weaved multiple story lines with a fairy tale quality balanced with a bit of science via a main female character. The story(ies) center around a missing girl child named Amelia presumably dead as a result of a kidnapping. As the story evolves, two more missing girl children from both the farther past and current time frame are missing. What ensues is the meshing of the stories both in gossip, fact, and the every-present fairy tales that are weaved in the local pub, The Swan. At the Swan all the men engage in storytelling in a game of one up-manship. A wonderful tale that has all the necessary ingredients: villains, children, heroes, and a happily-ever-after. Or mostly so.
