I just finished "Olive Bright, Pigeoneer" by, Stephanie Graves. I enjoyed reading this book. I love books set during World War II, and I love when they are about subjects that I don't already know, and I knew nothing about pigeons in the war!! I was totally entranced with the pigeons. The book is written well, it has great character development, the interaction and conversations that take place are well composed and fluid. The characters are extremely likable. Olive is a strong intelligent woman looking for a way to do her part for the war. She lost her mother at an early age, yet still seeks to have her approval, to live up to her image. She finds a way, just not exactly as planned.
Thrown into all this is the murder of the local busybody, adding some intrigue. Olive, being a fan of Agatha Christie sets out to play amateur sleuth and solve the crime. Putting herself at peril.
There is just enough mystery and intrigue with a glimpse of a maybe in the future romance for Olive to make this a nice, cozy, yet informative read. A little something for readers of different genre's mystery/thriller, fiction, romance, and historical fiction.
I recommend this one for everyone and give 4 out of 5 stars.
