This book was less about pigeons than I was expecting based on the title! Yes, Olive Bright is a pigeoneer, and she does train her pigeons to be of service to Britain during World War II, but the book was more a cozy mystery set in an English village during this time period. Olive, having read multiple Agatha Christie mysteries, takes it upon herself to solve a mystery in the sleepy village, while at the same time deals with her new colleagues from Baker Street. She provides cover for their activities by convincing her family that Captain Aldridge is actually "Jamie", her new boyfriend.

The book was cute, and I could see it making a good series. Olive is a determined character, and I enjoyed her adventures. I also thought the murder weapon of choice was perfect for this sleepy little village. I just wanted more pigeons! Maybe next time...
