First off I don't typically read books like this, so I don't have a lot to compare it to. I felt the beginning was a bit muddled and hard to get into. It dragged a bit. It picked up pace in the middle, I thought, but it still wasn't a book I couldn't put down. It took me awhile to finish this book as I just couldn't get into the storyline, the writing or the characters. I wasn't invested in Jack or Gemma which made the book feel like it was slow. I think for a stereotypical office romance this probably is not that far out of the norm. As I stated, this is just not a genre I typically read or enjoy so I am not surprised I felt this way about the book. I think my thoughts on this one are more on the genre than reflect on the book itself.
