Absolutely enjoyed this read. The characters come so vividly to life, but strike a balance between having dramatic problems and remaining relatable. Evie is a movie star experiencing a fall from grace even as a young teen, while learning about friendship, trust, and young love. She's had to grow up faster than others and, at 18, is already mistrustful of others. Yet, she's incredibly likeable. She doesn't suddenly learn to trust through a magical romantic interest, but she gradually learns to trust through observing friendships and slowly participating in them.
As an adult reader, I know this is a book I'd have loved as a young adult. While I don't envy Evie's position experiencing betrayal as a friend, the imagery of a teen traveling around NYC, learning to live and love within a complex family, and making new goofy and loving friends would be appealing to any young adult reader.
