The author of Nottingham helped me to rediscover my love of the story of Robin Hood. His writing style was not only immersive but also unique. His descriptions were vivid enough to transport me to parts of the world including the Sherwood Forest and the burnt remains of Locksley Castle.

However, what truly made Nathan Makaryk's writing stand out to me was his mastery of humor. It is a rare book that has gotten me to chuckle internally let alone laugh out loud. Makaryk not only managed to use humor in a few places here and there but each character has a unique sense of humor that sits seamlessly into the story arc. Additionally, the author's talent is demonstrated through his cast of characters. Makaryk managed to create characters with their own voices and moral compasses.

My one criticism of this book is that towards the beginning, two different characters have very similar thoughts about how easy it is to kill a man and the cost of taking that life. This is concerning because in all other areas characters appear to have their own voice and in this instant it appears as though the same line was copied from one chapter and added to another.

I appreciated the opportunity to review this book.
