In order to rack up more points, I downloaded almost all of the "First Look" PDFs, allowing me to read them at my leisure, take notes, and then come back later and write up a bunch of reviews all at once, thereby making it easier on me and decreasing the amount of time I needed to sit at my computer. This particular excerpt was about Robin Hood, which is great, but the book started out really stiff. The characters aren't fully developed - at least in the excerpt - and the dialogue seemed way too modern for a Robin Hood story, making it a little bit awkward. However, with that being said, there are so very few Robin Hood stories, that I'd be willing to give this one a temporary pass to find out more of where Makaryk is going with this. It could be something as simple as a very, very rocky start - at least that's what I'd like to hope. Still, because of that rocky start, this is one that I'd get used to try out before spending money on the rest of the series.
