A compelling retelling of Robin Hood. Split between different characters, each section gives a unique look into each person. Each character has an individual outlook and narrative which gives depth and life to the story. A few phrases in the dialogue did seem too modern for the 1100s, but I didn't find that it took from the story in any way. It has a good flow, and the writing has a way of keeping the reader hooked.
The story takes you deep into the mythology of Robin Hood, to before the Merry Men were formed. Not many RH retellings do that, and it's refreshing as it gives the reader something tangible to focus on, rather than just knowing he was in Acre, we know exactly what went on and how it ties to the entire story.
I highly recommend this to any Robin Hood fan!
