This isn't a genre I often read, but it took me exactly one short paragraph to get hooked. The writing is immersive. I felt the emotions of the narrator, saw the scenes, heard the sounds. The language feels right for the times, without being cumbersome or difficult to read. Definitely left me wanting more!
