This honestly was such a fun and lovely read. I am no regency aficionado but I feel like this book really hit all the checklist for a good historical romance. Witty humor, slow burn, enemies to lovers, longing glances and crazy drama, this book has it all.

In this story, we follow Drusilla Clare, a young woman who is not afraid to speak her mind and fight for what she believes in. I enjoy stories where characters are not scared to stand up to social norms and challenge things because not only does it make for a good story but also it helps teach other people that it’s important to challenge things that are necessary. Dru is such a refreshing character. She is constantly put in situations where she could easily answer with hatred and jealousy but instead, she reacts in ways that make her such an easy character to love. I LOVED the way Minerva wrote Gabriel Marlington. With the way we were introduced to the character, I expected him to be more of an stick up character but he had a lot of depth to him. I felt that the character growth was really emphasized on Gabriel more than Dru. I would have loved to have seen more emphasis on Dru’s character growth.

My only concern with this book has to be the pacing of the relationship. I wished we were given more background to Dru’s feelings for Gabriel. I think it would have made for a more realistic and alluring story. I also wished there was more scenes of them just talking. Many times, I felt there were gaps between their relationships and that things happened a bit too fast. Additionally, the ending felt a bit rushed as well. It almost felt like a soap opera towards the end but other than that, I truly enjoyed this story.

With the way the story ended, it honestly did make me pretty excited for the series! I also am a huge fan of Eva's character therefore I cannot wait to see how the rest of the story plays out.
