I enjoyed this book as a break from the heavier reading I had been doing. It is a quick read that I didn't want to put down. I read the majority of this book in a day as I found the pacing to be constantly and easily pushing from one event to the next.

I think it is a little deceiving that the book promotes Drusilla as a main character since she becomes somewhat secondary towards the second half of the book. While the lack of communication between her and Gabriel was frustrating, it was also frustrating that her defining feature (her feminist views) were so easily discarded for a man as the book progressed.

I appreciated that this book included Gabriel being a POC, something I feel you don't see much of in historical romances (especially around this particular period).

All in all, I enjoyed this book for what it is, a light, historical romance novel.
