First of all, I'm fond of the setting for this book- the 1800's, high society, and social mingling. Additionally, the main characters have strong personalities. The story opens in a ballroom - Drusilla and her friend, Eva, are both beautiful debutantes, but are generally avoided but male prospects because of their backgrounds. Drusilla has a secret crush on Eva's step brother, Gabriel (Gabe) Marlington, that becomes evident to the reader in their banter during the ball. Their conversations, however, are not sweet flirtations, but rather witty jabs with undercurrents of tension. Through an unforeseen event, Gabe comes to her 'rescue' and feelings are intensified.

The cover for this book is beautiful, a debutante in her ballgown silhouetted against a beautiful pink background.
