I really enjoyed the excerpt of Never Vacation with Your Ex, though I'd definitely need to read further to find out just how much sympathy the main/POV character is going to have from me. Don't get me wrong, I like Kaylee a lot, but at the point we're left in the story I'm firmly entrenched in Camp Dean. Not to say she doesn't have the right to date *and* break up with whomever she wants, but her "I'm going to get Dean to hate me so he doesn't go on our joint family vacation since I *have*to go" plan really isn't the best. Dean's 100% right when he says her request that he bow out gracefully is unreasonable.

It's definitely piqued my attention, though--which is absolutely its job!--I really want to know why Kaylee broke up with him in the first place (no, the explanation she gives us in her head is *not* adequate! So far she just sounds like a scared kid who is maybe intimidated by what could be a real relationship? Where does this come from?) and see how their families' shared vacation goes. Plus, there really aren't enough romances out there--YA or otherwise--with characters who play volleyball. A real oversight!
