I'm going to start off by saying I picked up this book from pure curiosity because frankly I'm not someone who supports the US military. My english teacher, however, is a huge fan of this one and recommended it to the class. I was skeptical at first and I definitely went into it expecting the typical "hard work pays off" and "struggle makes you stronger," that type of thing. And for the most part I would say that's basically what I got - but I would say that even if you are someone like me who doesn't generally support the US military, this book could still be worth reading simply for those messages. It does a very good job of being motivating and truthful. And I found that even though I found the military itself to be immoral, I could sympathize with the struggles the author went through and the lessons he pulled from his life experiences. Overall this is a good-not great-motivating book.
