Mike Hayes has clearly led an interesting and intense life. Though this particular genre of military memoir/self-help does not really interest me, I do think the right reader could really enjoy it. The author is amiable in his writing style, but he is intent on pushing the reader to make hard decisions.
The cover is what I would expect for this type of book - it is about time spent in the military and doing hard things. This is conveyed nicely in the font and color choice of the cover.
