Never After is a middle grad fantasy read that is utterly charming! It follows the story of Filomena, a whip smart kid who lives a shielded life from her over protective parents. When the final book in the fantasy series she is obsessed with is supposed to be release she ends up meeting Jack, and actual character from the book. Before she knows it she is thrust into the world she has been reading about all these years.
From the very first page, the author's writing style is whimsical and laugh out loud funny! It is the absolute highlight of the book for me, I was completely enchanted by her prose. Filomena and her quirky sidekicks are fun and vulnerable characters that you can really root for. The different take on the classic fairy tale characters was interesting too. This series is sure to appeal to fans of Rick Riordan and kids who like to have a good laugh.
