The cover is super cute. If I saw this cover sitting on a shelf in a bookstore, I would pick it up to read the synopsis. I loved the colors and design. The synopsis feels like a middle-grade book—6th grade MC and fairy tales. But despite the target age, I would still be interested enough to pick it up. As for the excerpt: the prologue felt a bit disjointed and sounded like the beginning of several fairy tales (baby princess, excluded guest, fairy godmothers, evil step-mother). But once the story started with Filomena, it definitely picked up. Filomena seems adorable. A spunky, smart, outcast who loves books—what's not to love? The excerpt made me want to keep reading to find out what happens. The synopsis gave a little bit away (Jack Stalker is the hero from the books Filomena loves). So I'm guessing there will be some back and forth to connect the prologue, Filomena's fictional book series, the missing 13th fairy, the missing author, the missing 13th book, and what's happening to Filomena. I will definitely pick this up when it comes out to find out what happens.
