This book was an auto buy because I recognized the author from when I read the Blue Bloods series in middle school.

This book is SO cute! It could easily be read as YA, other than the fact that the main character is in middle school and some of the insults are a little juvenile. But, like, in a good way. The group of bullies is constantly being compared to noodles, and the MC has some pretty creative ones like Linguini Losers!

There is almost constant adventure in this, which mostly takes place in a world called Never After, where all fairytales we know and love exist, in a slightly different way than the storybooks say. The MC is, of course, the chosen one that is the only one that can save Never After from the ogre queen, who has slowly taken over different lands in the world.

So this book combines fairytales with the real world, but it is well done. I enjoyed reading this story, and I felt like cheering at the end! I feel like this could be read as a standalone, but if I was in middle school the ending might have hooked me a little more to where I feel I NEED to have the second book. Very cute, I enjoyed!
