After seeing the gorgeous cover and reading the first look, I couldn't wait to dive into my first book by this author. Filomena was instantly likeable to me and as someone who always had her eyes inside a book growing up, I connected to her love of a great series and characters. But this is where my enjoyment of this book ended.

The idea behind this book is exciting, but the implementation didn't work for me. Everything felt two dimensional and like stereotypical fairy tale plots. Filomena's parents were lovely, but I felt it was unbelievable how they adopted Filomena. I was so tempted to give up and not finish reading this book, but I really wanted to post an honest review based on reading the entire book. I did like Filomena and some of the silly humor and word play. However, the characters never had difficulties solving problems and the solutions fell flat and were so boring and very much a let down to the "buildup" of the conflict. The ending was super disappointing and I won't be reading more of this series.
