I did not expect to like this. I thought after the popularity of the Descendant series the author would just coast but she did not. I am not into middle grade books honestly but I will definitely be getting my hands on a copy of this! The writing is so good. It feels just like an old fairy tale. The characters felt very familiar and different. The differences kept me reading and are the reason I want to finish this book. Also I really do like the cover. It is a bit cartoony but the colors are eye catching and pair well. This is already in the library but it may just have to end up on my personal shelf as well. I have heard this author is going to be writing for Disney and those stories will be turned into movies. I do really hope this is true and that this is one of them because I could imagine it being a smash hit. I did really love Descendants and have all the movies.
