The plot of this book reminded me a lot of the Sisters Grimm (as in The Fairy Tale Detectives). Or also, Ella Enchanted.
First, the cover. I thought the cover was so cute. Very vibrant and eye catching and definitely draws you in.
And the characters keep you immersed in the book itself. This is definitely a middle-grade book, so keep that in mind if you are an older reader. I loved the incorporation of the different fairy tale elements (especially since I LOVE fairy tales).
I love that the main character, Filomena, is such a diverse character. She is adopted and has experienced bullying because of her background. It made here a very realistic character. She's a joy to read, especially all of her inner thoughts.
Overall, loved the premise. I definitely want one of my favorite characters to come to life, and this book checked all of the boxes for me.
