Fast and entertaining adventure for younger readers
This is a fast and entertaining romp that follows a young girl as she's taken into the world of her favorite book series, which just happens to be a retelling of classic fairytales told as they truly happened.
It's a bit mad-dash and leaves a lot of things unexplained, but it also happens to be entertaining. I'm sure younger readers will probably love it as it's all about imagination and being brave, with many chances for emotional scenes, action, and just plain fun.
In the end, I do wish there was some more explanation and/or exploration of a couple of interesting elements that are rushed through, as they are a big part of what makes the story interesting and would definitely add a lot to the enjoyment factor. But I can't deny that I was entertained just as well and the writing is top-notch, being solid enough for an adult to enjoy while remaining accessible for younger readers to tackle on their own.
