Thank you to the publisher and bookish first for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I found this book quite enjoyable. It was cute and had some fun little rhymes. I love reading stories that take well-known fairy tales and give them a new life, not just retelling them in a new way but giving them a life after their original tales. This book followed Filomena Jefferson-Cho as she meets well-known characters, such as Jack, and learns new things about tales she thought she knew, such as little red riding hood and the big bad wolf.

I loved the narration of the story in part one of the book, but it seemed to change narration styles as the story went on. There was nothing wrong with that though because the story got more serious as the story went on so it wasn't as happy-go-lucky as it was at the beginning. I just really enjoyed that beginning narration. I also liked that each part gave a quick insight into what would happen in that section of the story. It was quite an interesting thing to do.

Overall this book is a fun, quick, and super easy read. If you're looking for something light to read then I would give this a go. I do want to say though that as an adult, I would give this book 3 stars because it was enjoyable but it just didn't do it completely for me because the pacing was a bit off but that is to be expected for a middle-grade book. That being said, I did give this book a 4 star rating because I know that for the intended audience it would be just right and do what it intended to do for the younger audience. Again, with that being said, it was still enjoyable as an adult reader and I think many ages will like this book.
