Ohh how I love a good magical realism story and middle grade does it SO WELL. It's a genre and age that is not my norm (or even close to my age!) but I just LOVE it.
I love the way the magic feels so real that it actually could be. This starts off in a way that makes you love the adorable the characters and care for them immediately, and anxiously look forward to the magic that is about to happen as she follows Jack into this magical world. The real life and real world experiences mixed in just complete a well-rounded intro to this tale, and I can't wait to see how the magic mixes with the message.
Oh, and a book about books? ALWAYS.
