I was immediately struck by the feel of the story. Whimsical and enchanting. It reminded me strongly of Chris Colfer's "A Land of Stories" novel, which I loved.

Twelve-year-old Filomena is an enduring main character who's so excited to get a new book. Who isn't, right??? Adult readers will reminisce back to their days eagerly awaiting the next Harry Potter book.

Both in the fairytale world and the non-magical world, a strong sense of family can be felt.

The prose is strongly inviting. Its youthful and sweet. It sounds like a 12-year-old thinking about her day, but I think either way readers young and old will relate to Filomena.

By chapter two, not only is there an intro to the fairytale world, a sweet main character, but a mystery into what happened to the author of Filomena's favorite series, because the author has also disappeared. No new book. The tragedy!!!

This is a super fun, exquisitely narrated middle-grade novel that has lots of potential. I'm excited to read more.
