This book, My Eyes are Up Here, was a nice and breezy read. I feel like it’s always nice to read some young adult/ teen Romance novels. I normally stick to dark crime thrillers or mysteries do this is a nice change of pace. This book centers on a young woman narrator. I believe she is around 15 years old. I wish I could have read a book like this when I was that age. At first glance, this book just looks like a typical teen romance novel. However, it really tackles the hard issues like body positivity and self esteem. These are really important messages for young girls to read about. I like that these issues are addressed, but they don’t feel super heavy handed. The main character had things about herself that make her uncomfortable, and she undoubtedly grow as a person and accept things. While I like the messages and ideals, I feel like the writing itself could be stronger.
