My Eyes Are Up Here is one of those books that is compelling as much as it's powerful. It's an emotional, realistic story about learning to be comfortable in your own skin and accepting your body.

Greer is a high-schooler that is self-conscious about her body, and it mainly has to do with the size of her chest. She's exceedingly uncomfortable in her own skin, and the comments from those around her do not help with that; she's constantly being judged by her high school peers. But Greer has such an amazing support system with her close friends. Throughout the book, Greer learns more about herself and what it means to love your body and how you shouldn't judge someone just based on how they look.

Even though this book had romance, it took a backseat to the main plot of the story, which was about Greer. Greer's thoughts and actions are so similar to what many teenagers go through, so it was nice to see a realistic perspective in a young adult book. And even romance is not the point of the story, the budding relationship Greer starts is cute and definitely swoon worthy.

Overall, I was very pleased with this contemporary book. My Eyes Are Up Here presents a very realistic character with a realistic setting and issue that the main character has to overcome. It's definitely one of those books that leaves you with a positive vibe and self-acceptance.
