Very Pleasantly Surprised

As a high school librarian, I'm always on the hunt for books that will interest my demographic, of course, but get so frustrated with the trend of books with just enough sleaze that a high schooler might like them. It often feels like YA authors have to insert just enough trashiness into a novel to win over the teen crowd. I admit, just by the title and blurb, I was a bit leery about this one. After reading through this "first look," though, I can say that I am so pleasantly surprised. It has the feel for a perfect YA novel, and enough meat to it that even an adult might like it. Fans of the hit novel "Dumplin" will enjoy this!
