Greer is a shy math girl who is afraid. Afraid of the whispers that only she can hear in the hallways of her school, afraid of people and what they think of her, and afraid she won't be able to figure out herself and her math problems.
The problem with Greer isn't her insecurities, but her efforts. I understand fear. I fear people and what their motives are, even ones truly close to me, but I have made efforts to fix things which is what I believe makes that a more believable person, or what I mean is a hero(ine) that is more realistic.
I admire that she tries out for the volleyball team because she tries. Being scared and doing nothing about it never help, not Greer or anyone. Thus, Greer trying, no matter how large or small, no matter how scared, shows that she is someone who wants to live her life.
