This book was amazing and I generally don't even like police procedurals. Jane Tennison is a great character, and I enjoy watching her work in a primarily male-dominated police force in the 70's to solve some of Britain's worst crimes. In this book, Murder Mile, several women from different walks of life have been murdered in a short period of time. Jane and the rest of the team have to figure out what the connections between these women are and whether or not a high ranking police official knows more than he is letting on. They follow leads, ask questions, dust for fingerprints, and do it all without the modern day conveniences of cell phones or computers. You can almost smell the cigarette smoke and hear the typewriter keys clacking at the station.
