What a really cool look into Tennison's past. The story is set in the 70's and the detail and descriptions of that era (I WISH i had been older then - I was like.. one lol) are incredible. Lydia LaPlante is SO good at capturing all the details of the ear especially some of the hard stuff like prejudice, and gender equality.

Tennison is investigating a series of murders - a young woman has been found dead in an alley and then close behind, yet another body is found and rumors start swirling and the papers are ALL over it, and the stories start to blame the police for not doing their jobs figuring out who is murdering these people. Jane must figure out where the bodies are coming from, and what happened FAST before the stories come back around and spin (even more) out of control.

It's a typical Tennison book. She's on the case, and the clue following and investigation is enthralling and really fun to watch play out! She's doing the best she can - in the WAY she knows how - not afraid to piss anyone off! But she's just not confident in her coworkers and who is trustworthy or not. I love her as character and I've loved watching her grow.

Things do wrap up pretty neatly, but it's clean and fast paced and just the right amount of mystery. I love all these books and can't wait for the next one!
