Jane Tennison, recently promoted to DCI, is called to a case right when her night shift is about to end. We get the beginning details of the case and are introduced to many of the policemen set to work the case. This did not particularly interest me, it seemed like any other crime mystery story and shows the attitude of men about women being in their midst during the 70's. Overall I don't think this book would be for me.
