This book starts from the beginning with a tension you can feel building. A mother and father are keeping a big secret from their ten year old daughter. What they don't know is that she has planned a little surprise for them... Unfortunately, her little surprise plays right into the hands of the secret they are keeping from her.
The feel of this story reminds me of an old 1990's movie, "The Hand that Rocked the Cradle." You can feel something coming and you know it won't be good for everyone involved. You just can't look away from the tragedy about strike and want to know what will happen next.
This psychological thriller with a touch of science fiction is the first I've read from Kira Peikoff and I am certainly interested in reading more.
