Mother Knows Best is a well written piece in which the reader is caught in two conflicts. One conflict is with the mother, a parent, who is doing everything she can to protect her daughter from some terrible entity named simply J. Two, the conflict of the child, Abby, who desperately wants to be a normal kid, with normal parents, and the ability to do normal things out in society like her friends. Abby and her mother are being hunted for some reason. One reason is inferred as Abby may be genetically created or enhanced. Something is there because the J character matches Abby but as the adult version.
Abby wants to find the truth while the mother wants to keep the truth from being discovered until she believes she and Abby are ready. It is intriguing yet, not for me.
