Kira Peikoff has written a thriller that is a combination of medical breakthrough, psychological thriller and humanist tale of longing for a child. The lengths that one woman, one doctor and one scientist will go to make this a reality cross ethical and legal lines.
Peikoff writes from different points of view from all of the main characters. The jumbled thoughts of Claire, who suffers from mental distress due to the death of her first child come through painfully clear. Her seemingly fragile grip on reality makes life hard for her husband and daughter Abigail. Abigail is a typical teen, self-absorbed, sneaky and so tired of whatever is making her mom a recluse. In typical teen fashion, she discovers information about herself that her parents seem to want desperately to dismiss. Abigail's stubborn curiosity may put her whole idea of who her family is to a trial.
