So this was maybe not the best book to read right before I have the genetic screening for my pregnancy. What an IVF nightmare. Yikes.

Clare Abram's nightmare comes true when she passes on a genetic mutation to her son. For a second chance, she works with a fertility specialist to create a child with three genetic parents, but the world is not ready for this kind of illegal experimentation. Sometimes thrillers can seem so generic. This one however, touching on sci-fi with genetic manipulation that could be reality in the not so distant future, adds a new layer to the family secret trope. You sympathize with all the characters since you understand their motives, even when their methods are not exactly ethical.
