We actually learn more about the story from reading the synopsis than from reading the first couple chapters of the book, but it is a unique premise. Three people, a male and two females, work together to apparently genetically engineer a daughter. Since this is illegal, one ends up in prison, while the others go into to hiding and hope to raise their daughter in a somewhat normal life. The First Impression takes place ten years later as the third "parent" has left prison and finds the family through a DNA website. The secrets are just beginning.
