I can appreciate the story the author is setting out to tell, but I think this a bit too heavy for my brain to handle at the moment. I’m finding I want to read stories about struggling to survive and overcoming systemic barriers less and less these days — we have enough of that in the real world. I’m skipping this one but I hope it works better for someone else (and that it all ends happily).
